Primary Function / Major Responsibilities

• Design reliable and easily manufactured electronic circuitry in accordance with design criteria and performance objectives. 

• Conduct functional and environmental tests of new designs or modified existing designs to evaluate circuit performance.

• Responsible for cost effective design decisions.

• May prepare proposals, personnel and cost estimates, and work schedules to meet completion dates and technical specifications.

• Assist employees of higher classification in preliminary analysis of design objectives to define optimum design criteria and operating characteristics of subassemblies and complete instruments.

• Prepare documentation such as schematic diagrams, test procedures, theory of operation, purchased part lists, instruction manuals and related information.

• Maintain current knowledge regarding new developments and trends in applicable engineering field.

Specific Job Skills Required: 

Knowledge and application of electrical engineering principles, practices and techniques.  Requires a high degree of creativity, engineering skill and independent judgment.   Working knowledge of software design and basic coding techniques.

Education and/or Experience Required:

Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering with minimum of 2-5 years design experience.
